China : Pursue Sino-US textile trade relations seriously, advises Commerce official
MOFCOM Spokesman Commenting on US Prolonging the Decision of Restrictions on 4 Categories of Textile Products and Accepting 13 Restriction Applications of Domestic Textile Community MOFCOM spokesman made a comment and said that CITA announced on Sept. 30 that the US would not make decision on whether to restrict 4 categories of imported Chinese textile products such as knitting cloth (222) until Nov. 30, to which we felt delighted. The spokesman pointed out that the CITA announced on Oct. 5 that it would agree to consider the application of repeat of restrictions on 9 categories of textile products such as imported Chinese cotton shirts (338/339), and new restrictions on 4 categories like cheese cloth (226).
The action of US obviously broke relative WTO rules and we firmly opposed it. Meanwhile, we hoped that the US could proceed from the general situation of China-US trade and economic relations to seriously and properly handle textile trade issue.
